TRUNO

Scaling design across products

TRUNO provides multiples products and services for the retail industry, like inventory, hr, labor management, business analytics, etc. This growing suite of products was starting to show challenges with technical scalability and inconsistencies in user experience.

Since many of these products were acquisitions, each one had different ui components, interaction patterns, and visual styling. So, myself, as the only designer, and a few engineering leads kicked off starting a design system.

We were pretty scrappy, organizing a component library with Sketch and Invision DSM for documentation and linked to a dev environment with the coded components. I would sync up with marketing to pull in their branding documentation and other ideas for things to feed into the system.

Over time it started to expand and show value, reducing the time it took to design and build across all of TRUNO’s products.
