TimeForge, a labor management startup, was working on adding features from their main web app to their standalone TimeForge Employee app. The first feature to add was managing time off requests and availability.
As the only designer, I wore many hats, researching and mapping opportunities with stakeholders to delivering design specs for implementation. I started by looking into insights from the main web app, collecting usage stats and time off related support tickets. Worked with product management and stakeholders to understand business requirements and customer ideas.
After some early rounds of sharing designs internally with devs and customer support, we were able to align on the user flow, inspired by common scheduling apps, like Outlook or Google Calendar. We believe this familiarity helped with the success of its launch as it had high adoption and minimal support tickets.
